  1. Hi Susan,

I just ran across your blog on refurbishing your Binder loom and am VERY interested in how you went about it. (especially the details of using electrolysis to clean up the steel parts). In cleaning out the family home over the past couple of years I found most of the parts for my mother’s two 36″ Binder floor looms and I would like to restore them. I think I have all the parts for the 4-harness loom but seem to be missing many of the parts for the frame for the 8-harness. (The house and garage were filled with a lifetime collection of artist supplies, stitchery and weaving goods, thousands of books, and and endless supply of clutter, so the rest of the frame may still be buried somewhere in that mess.) Cleaning out the house and garage has been a huge work-in-progress for me as I live in Orange County, California, and it is a 100 mile round trip for me to get into Los Angeles through LA traffic and my age and other obligations prevent me from making the trip more than one day a week (if that).

I remember my mother showing me how to use the looms and teaching me the names of the parts, but that was back in the late 1950s. I disassembled the 4-harness loom for her sometime early in the 1960s but she must have taken apart the 8 harness loom herself. Of course there were no labels as to which parts go to which loom, but I have still managed to identify them. If I cannot find the frame components for the 8-harness loom, I can always make a new one.

Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to share and i look forward to talking with you about your restoration.

    Sincerely,

  2. Hi Susan,
I found your blog about this Binder Loom. Like some I am interested how you’d go about it. I am picking up a loom this weekend, and its disassembled. If you could be so kind to share how did you assembled yours. I look everywhere for some info but I couldn’t find one. I talked to some expert on old looms, and both has no instructions but both said that its not too hard. But you see, I haven’t put up/assemble a loom before. I appreciate it so much if you help me even a decent drawing or pictures to share, I’d very grateful.

Your blog on this loom is the only one that keep poping up on the net.

    Best,
